William Gardner, Senior Technical Engineer

With 25 years of information technology experience – 10 of those troubleshooting technical issues at financial services firm A.G. Edwards – Bill Gardner understands the importance of technology to financial service professionals and their clients.

Mr. Gardner joined A.G. Edwards in 1999 as a technical support specialist, resolving software-related issues and helping more than 4,000 end-users with their computer, network systems and peripheral devices. His problem-solving abilities and his superior client service quickly earned him several promotions to supervisory positions on the firm’s Help Desk and within Desktop Administration. In these roles, he oversaw the investigation and resolution of hardware and software issues, while also installing, configuring and supporting various applications including Citrix Management Console.

When Wachovia Securities (now Wells Fargo Advisors) acquired A.G. Edwards, Gardner was named a desktop engineer. In this role, he created and managed the Windows Group Policy and managed the desktop environment for the firm’s financial consultants. He also tested and certified applications for the company’s Home Office and branch desktops.

Before moving to the financial services industry, Gardner began his information technology career in the United States Air Force where he served for eight years. After leaving the Air Force in 1994, he worked in technical support for two St. Louis-area firms before joining A.G. Edwards.

He joined Benjamin F. Edwards & Co. as a senior technical engineer and works within the IT group on technology design and support for the Home Office and branches.
